A couple approached gamble + design with an outdated Victorian and a clean slate, ready to build a home to spend the rest of their lives in. The challenge was to take an interior that was covered in pink, from mantelpieces to tile, and transform it into a home that emanates a calm, relaxing ambience flowing from room to room.
gamble + design guided the transformation for almost every aspect. A palette of cool colors, warm lighting, and clean window treatments make the home feel down to earth and fresh. A custom woven stair rug installed through all three floors of the home is simultaneously a statement piece and a touchstone connecting each space to the other.
A mindful master furniture plan creates a natural ease and flow throughout the home from the dining room layout with a locally fabricated dining table to the charming late-addition nursery. A black 10×14 foot accent wall in the living space, a potentially controversial and decidedly dramatic component, became a favored design element providing a unique backdrop for art.
Individual features along with a multitude of details, from interior and exterior paint color selection, working with a drapery fabrication house to create the window treatments, to the selection of hardware, tile and finishes throughout the home combine to establish the serene, continuous atmosphere the clients envisioned.
A complete gut renovation realized the couple’s dream of a master bath. Statuary marble and chrome finishes create an atmosphere of relaxed elegance. Thoughtful functional details, such as placing electrical outlets behind the mirrors to hide unsightly electric toothbrushes and shavers, ensure that serenity is maintained day-to-day.
