living-room with a view multi-sided sofa by Buildane

Presidio View

San Francisco, California

This family of four from Tokyo enlisted gamble + design to create a home informed by the visual language of Japan, translated for the Bay Area. The serene, light-filled home is imbued with subtle, carefully-crafted details, and custom pieces by a slew of talented California-based artisans. In the dining room, a custom white oak dining table is paired with blackened ash Klismos chairs and sits atop a custom wool rug. The stair enclosure, hewn in white oak, features exposed joinery, echoing the practices of Japanese building.

The living room features a custom multi-sided sofa to take advantage of Presidio and Golden Gate Bridge views. An ink-on-panel piece by Bay Area-based artist Jenifer Kent hangs above custom steel console table. In the kitchen, white oak cabinets are paired with jura limestone countertops, custom pulls and a duo of pendants.

“We were delighted with the service provided by Jeni and her team at gamble + design. Jeni was imaginative, a great listener, responsive, and very respectful of budgets. She helped transform our home from a jumbled mess into a clean, comfortable, and welcoming space.
We absolutely could not have done it without her. She coordinated smoothly and professionally with our general contractor throughout the process. The team working under Jeni provided great back-up and support - a special shout out for Paris and Murray. We can’t recommend gamble + design highly enough.
