Cole Valley Jewel Box

San Francisco, California

Cole Valley Jewel Box is designed to last—timeless without feeling precious, and distinctly San Francisco in its easy elegance.

Perched at the crest between The Castro and Cole Valley, this home had the location and character—just not the flow. Our design objective was to connect the kitchen, dining, and living room, invite in more natural light, and create a palette that feels both enduring and fresh.

We began by opening a structural wall, aligning sightlines so morning light can travel from the hilltop windows through the entire social space. The new plan supports easy daily routines and effortless entertaining: a generous kitchen at the heart, dining anchored by built-in storage, and a composed living area that frames the city beyond.

Materiality grounds the design in nature. Marble tile and stone bring permanence and quiet drama, while dark cabinetry paired with jewel-toned greens and teal textiles brighten and balance the space. Brass accents add a measured gleam, while matte finishes keep the rooms calm and tactile.

The result is a study in restraint: classic forms with modern clarity. Proportions are balanced, profiles are slim, and every detail is purposeful—from the stone-wrapped hood to the arched bar. By day, the space is bright and buoyant; by night, it settles into a moody glow that flatters the jewel-tone palette.
